Catalyst Behaviour Services is committed to empowering families with long-lasting knowledge of how to best ensure their loved ones are happy, engaged and independent. We strive to foster self-determination and maintain the dignity of our clients across our wide range of services.

Catalyst blended evidence based practice with a solid relationship building between the therapist and my son that resulted in improvements in both his language skills and his willingness to engage in learning. I really appreciate how Catalyst matched my goals for my son with the measured skills he has maximize his learning within his zone of development.

Tiered-Service Delivery Model

Catalyst Behaviour Services consists solely of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) designated professionals who also offer a tiered model of service delivery. This model consists of a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) or Behaviour Consultant who is responsible for the creation of all necessary programming, as well as highly trained interventionists who implement the programming via daily or weekly in-home sessions. All team members either hold an official ABA designation, or are actively enrolled in ABA coursework and receiving intensive and ongoing supervision from an experienced BCBA. The BCBA will conduct regular hands-on training opportunities for team members to ensure support staff and Behaviour Consultants are able to demonstrate a variety of techniques consistently and efficiently across any type of learner. We proudly hold a high standard of excellence for all staff so that we can provide exceptional services to our clients.

A tiered model of service delivery is a highly cost effective option for families and helps their funding dollars go further. In-home sessions are set up to provide consistent structure, repetition and reinforcement which helps the learner gain skills and generalize them more efficiently. Parents and caregivers receive hands-on coaching and modelling of all strategies, but are not expected to act as therapy aides or behavioural experts. All of these core values set our team apart from other local agencies and will allow your child to make tangible and meaningful progress at a faster rate.

Our unique service delivery model is accessible to you whether you have funding through Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) or are funding treatment options privately.

We are so appreciative of the outstanding work done by Catalyst. They were very responsive to our perspective and experiences as parents and worked diligently to help our child build important skills. We felt heard and involved in the therapeutic process at every step. We would highly recommend their services to other families looking for support

Service Options

Direct Therapy

Our interventionists are trained to provide one to one therapy across a variety of targeted skills. Some examples include language and communication, academics, play skills, feeding interventions and addressing severe challenging behaviour, such as self-injury or aggression. Sessions incorporate both natural play opportunities and more structured table top activities when appropriate. In carefully selected meaningful activities, your child will have fun while learning a variety of skills to help improve their independent functioning and interactions with others.

Skill Assessments

Our team provides initial and ongoing assessments that target a variety of learning readiness, language and functional living skills. These help to determine your child’s current skill level and will be used to guide future programming, as well as document your child’s progress. At the onset of services we will discuss various assessment options based on caregiver concerns and age of the individual. Assessments are also offered as a one time service for families in need of detailed summaries of skills and behaviour reports.

Individualized School Consultation

Our team members can support your child in excelling in their classroom environment through observing them in their class and with peers, collaborating with school staff and attending IPP and other meetings with the family. Our ABA lens will help school teams understand how to effectively assess skills needed to succeed in an academic setting, and properly teach individuals by properly using the power of reinforcement. Our involvement in the school can be short or long term depending on the family’s goals for learning.

Severe Problem Behaviour

If your child is engaging in severe aggressive behaviour toward themselves or others, we can help. Our experienced BCBAs will help determine the underlying factors as to why the behaviour is occurring. From there we will work with the family and other stakeholders to change the environment around them and teach the child new, more functional skills to help replace the harmful behaviour. Above all else, our priorities when treating severe challenging behaviour are maintaining the client’s, family’s and staff’s dignity and safety at all times.

Parent Coaching

Parent coaching is embedded into every service we offer. However, our team members can increase this focus at any time by implementing our ABA parent training curriculum to ensure you leave services with a thorough knowledge of how to reduce problem behaviour and continue teaching your child in ways that suit them best.

Funding Options

We help your money go further, whether you have government funding available or are paying privately. In addition to our tiered model of service delivery, our team member’s rates are highly affordable compared to other professionals in Alberta. We would be happy to discuss the supports you are interested in and help you find the most cost effective and efficient therapy plan for your child.

FSCD Funding

Our team is available to families who have either a Specialized Services or Developmental contract through FSCD. We can work with you as part of your Family Managed team, or in some cases, as contracted professionals through an agency you are already partnered with.

Private Payment Options

We believe that every child should be able to access high quality, individualized supports. Our team of experts and wide range of services are available to families who are not eligible for FSCD or no longer have government funding. We will work with you to provide cost effective treatment options and target the most meaningful goals in collaboration with your family.
